Writing on the BRIC wall

While doing research on the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) I found an interesting article called Writing on the bric wall by Jane Simms. It mentioned that the there were fast growing markets in Latin America and unless the UK change the "sluggish" response then they may risk falling down the world economic rankings and be underneath economies such as Brazil and India.

Creative industry: A contradiction in the terms

We were fortunate enough to be given a talk by guest lecturer Andrew Calcutt. The Talk he gave us Started of showing us how we as people have not changed in some aspects referring to how we still spectate people comparing 2011 to 1711 with the use of the blog the sartorialist (http://www.thesartorialist.com/) and the newspaper the Spectator he then went on to show us many other similarities with 2011 and 1711. He then spoke about Britain having a void as  we are no longer an empire and that we are still looking for something to fill the void. I found the speak very thought provoking it has made me wonder can the creative industry possibly fill the void that the lack of an empire fill or will Britain ever revive its industrial heritage and if so what impact will that have on life and what impact will it have if they continue to outsource.

The fashion industry take two

After looking at the areas that the fashion industry affect in the first diagram made my group an I took another approach in the form of a vent diagram and looked at how different sectors of the creative industry were linked to the fashion sector of the creative industry. This diagram was very eyeopening as while doing it my group and I realised that some of the sectors were linked with others that were also connected with fashion which i find quite fascinating. Doing diagrams like this make me realise that although there are various sectors in the creative industry, they can all somehow link to one another.

the fashion industry

Today we made a spider diagram to see how many areas of life the fashion industry affects. It was quite an interesting activity to do as you only really become aware of how many aspects of life directly and indirectly are influenced by the fashion industry, doing a task like this also gave me a new perspective on life wondering, leaving me to wonder if there are any other areas in life that can be affected or influenced by the fashion industry.
